Abstract Sixty beams , obtained from the literature , have been studied in this work . All these beams , failed in development of deformed bars in tension . Most ultimate bond stress equations are based on normal strength concrete tests . Regression analysis led to a proposed design equation for bond strength of deformed bars in tension . This method is shown to be a safe and at the same time giving a coefficient of variation ( COV ) of 13.56 present . This value is lower than all the ( COV ) obtained for the 5 existing code methods .
